How to Become a Believer & Follower of the Lord Jesus Christ

God has given every one of us a free will, so does not impose salvation on anyone. If you truly want to find how to be saved for Eternity, God’s own message to us – the Holy Bible, tells us.

The Bible tells us we are all sinners in God’s sight. The Bible says, “There is no distinction; all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.” (Romans 3:22, 23.) And “All we like sheep have gone astray; everyone has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Jesus the sins of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6.) That’s why we need a Saviour. Jesus, God’s Son, willingly gave his life and died on a Roman cross to pay the penalty for our sin. The Bible makes this clear. “God so loved the world he gave his only Son that whoever believes on Him shall be saved.” (John 3:16.) Jesus’ sacrifice removed the power of sin over us and God raised Him from the dead and exalted Him to His own right hand. He is our heavenly High Priest who intercedes for us. And we are no longer alone because He has given us the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and Guide. Jesus said, “The Holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name, will teach you and remind you of all I have told you.” (John 14:26.) We will still struggle with sin because we are human. Yet Jesus will help us not to give in to temptations that lead us to wrong doing. The Bible says, “There is no temptation that is not common to mankind. But God is faithful, who with the temptation will also make a way to escape, so that you may be able to endure it.” (I Cor. 10:13.) God does not tempt us, our own natures have a bias to sin, yet the Holy Spirit helps us.

  1. You need to admit your sin to yourself and to God.
  2. Thank Jesus for dying on the cross for you.
  3. Ask His forgiveness and invite the Lord Jesus to come into your inner being.
  4. Believe that he has.
Because the Bible gives you assurance, “I am writing this to you who believe in the name of God’s Son in order that you may KNOW that you have Eternal Life. He who has the Son HAS life.”( I John 5:13.) This is a commitment you have made before God. So it doesn’t depend on your feelings. Remember this helpful quote: “Feelings come and feelings go, and feelings are deceiving. Our trust is in the Word of God, nothing else is worth believing.”

May God bless you
